Andy Elliot. You were the first to welcome me when I arrived to my first World Championship in SE/F4 in Hobro, Denmark 1981/82 I think. Why would a World Champion welcome me? A rookie from Sweden? But thats Andy! Then over the years our roads would cross when you where racing F3 and I was organizing or racing. Then in early 90th I started racing F1 you were already there, and already a top competitor, but still you were taking your time to welcome me into F1! As you did in the late 80th! Always warm welcoming when you where around then and so many more times over the years! One special memory is back in 1991 from Penang Malaysia. Back in the days you had to qualify for the last races, And I did in my first season in F1. A dream came trough! Came there and it was a whole new world, heat, humidity, etc Racing starts and it’s a complicated race with a lot of disturbance, accidents, crashed turn markers, restarts etc. I was going good running 3th and thinking this could be my day. Peter Lindenberg from SA had a bad crash and it was a restart, I was 4th just on the tail and able to overtake for 3d but then the race are stopped again. Someone has taken out the 2d turnboy on the top turn. IE there are no more course to race on. Race was stopped and result are you where the Winner! Just a little catch: You took out the turn marker! So you were disqualified! But you went to the podium and had the spectators applause and the 1th place at the podium in the price giving, when I should have been there on the 3d place! And my 15min of glory! You were taking my first visit to the podium away! But don’t worry I forgive you! Because you have always been a trough friend and fellow competitor. This is just one story and there are many more, some can be told most of them are bet to be kept private. Miss you Andy! Now you can have arguments and long talks with Phil Duggan and John Hill in The Powerboat Heaven. R.I.P Andy, a friend for a long time and always! Pelle Brolin
